Science Fair Project Information! Please Read!!
1/12/09- Science Fair Project Information Packets sent home.
1/16/09- Purpose, Research Information and Hypothesis components are due. This information must be written or typed in on the Science Project Lab Report that was included in the packet. This component counts as a quiz grade and a parent signature gets 5 points added to this quiz grade.
1/23/09- Materials and Procedures must be complete and written in on the Science Project Lab Report This component counts as a quiz grade and a parent signature gets 5 points added to this quiz grade.
1/30/09- Data Charts, Results and Conclusion are due and must be written or typed in on the Science Project Lab Report. This component counts as a quiz grade and a parent signature gets 5 points added to this quiz grade.
Final Lab Reports (Neatly written or typed using complete sentences) is due on Thursday, February 5th. The CMS 6th Grade Science Fair is Tuesday, February 10th in the cafeteria. I will post the times later.
EVERY student must complete a Science Project Lab Report. Students can not work in groups on their projects. Non APEX Students will receive extra credit for completing a project board of their project. APEX students are required to complete a project board for their project. I strongly encourage students to take pictures or even video tape their experiments. If you are entering the Science Fair, you must cover the faces on the pictures with stickers. Please keep a journal or log if your experiment lasts several days. If any parent(s) have questions, please feel free to e-mail me at a1jackson@scsk12.org

1/26/09 Monday- Review Kinetic and Potential Energy. Take a Pop Quiz over Potential Energy. Start Chapter 12 Section 2 on Energy Conversions. Complete the 12-2 Workbook pages in class and check.
HW- Results and Conclusion components of the Science Fair Project are due this Friday.
1/27/09 Tuesday- Chapter 12 Section 2 Energy Conversions. Watch a Bill Nye Energy DVD and discuss in class.
HW- Results and Conclusion components of the Science Fair Project are due this Friday. The final project is due on Thursday, February 5th.
1/28/09 Wednesday- Energy of a Pendulum Lab (This lab demonstrates the conversion of potential to kinetic energy and back again using a water balloon and string)

1/29/09 Thursday- Chapter 12 Section 3 on Energy Conservation. We will discuss ways that we can save energy.
HW- Results and Conclusions are due on tomorrow.
1/30/09 Friday- Check Results and Conclusions. Chapter 12 Section 4 on Energy Resources.

Tuesday-TEST
Wednesday- Test. Look over Lesson 9-1.
Thursday- Class D spent some time going over the test from yesterday. We then studied Lesson 9-1 on probability. HW: WB Lesson 4-8. Class B will get their tests back tomorrow. They did the same classwork and have the same homework.
Math A and C Jan. 20-23
Tuesday- subtraction of fractions with borrowing. Complete WS. Test Thursday on Add/Sub of fractions. The study guide includes all types of problems included on the test.
Wednesday- We practiced subtraction of mixed numbers by working at the board. Be sure to study the study guide for the test tomorrow.
Thursday- We took our test on Addition and Subtraction of fractions. I was disappointed at the number of students who didn’t study the study guide.
