Monday: Spelling Bee will be December 4.  Practice at spelling bee web site www.myspellit.com.  Class qualifiers will be selected on November 25. Spelling Lesson 12 this week.  Complete Wordly Wise Lesson 3, Part E in class.  Read Desolation Canyon story from newspaper. Students received information letter about Public Speaking contest. Homework:  Complete Spelling worksheet 12.  Study Wordly Wise Lesson 3 words for test Tuesday. Get public speaking letter signed by parent for homework grade.

Tuesday:  Test on Wordly Wise Lesson 3. Spelling Worksheet 12 graded. Homework: Wordlly Wise Lesson 4 list – make flashcards from index cards or notebook paper cut to size. On sheet of notebook paper, write heading, your speech topic, parent signature, date, and teacher signature.  Have this complete (except for teacher signature) and ready to turn in Wednesday.

Wednesday:  Review and check Spelling wksht 12. Check topic signature sheet. Received KWL sheets to complete independently.  Homework:  Complete sections Know and Want to know on KWL sheet. Study Wordly Wise flash cards and complete lesson 4, A (write sentences) ,B (write vocab word and bold printed definitions).

Thursday:  Check KWL sheets for completion/grade.  Review citing sources.  Review Wordly Wise 4A,B.  Homework: Wordly Wise Lesson 4 C (write vocab word and letters of answers), D (write only new word). Research on topic.

Friday:  Check Wordly Wise C and D in class.  Read and complete Lesson 4, section E in class. Staple all Lesson 4 exercises and turn in to bin. Read Desolation Canyon, November 20 edition in class.

Homework:  Study flash cards for  Vocab test on Monday.

Reminders for Monday:  A copy of each student’s research for his/her speech is due on Monday, November 24!  This could be a print out of an article from the internet, a magazine article, newspaper article, encyclopedia entry, etc.-  whatever the student is using as research information for their speech.   Of course, this is NOT the written speech itself, but students may use their research and begin writing their speeches. We will work on these in class Monday and Tuesday.

Accelerated Reader test print outs are due before December 12!
