Qualifications for Student Council homeroom representatives were read in homeroom today.
Friday, September 19–Students contact homeroom teacher for permission to run. The following criteria must be met:
No more than 2 C’s on the first report card. Teachers use grades so far.
No D’s, F’s or more than 2 C’s.
No N’s or U’s in any subject, even homeroom or MAPS.
These qualifications REMAIN IN PLACE ALL YEAR for representatives elected. Students WILL BE REPLACED if grades or conduct do not meet guidelines.
Candidates may:
Hand out construction paper buttons or labels to wear. (no pins)
Attach posters to homeroom walls only. (not in hall)
Write a brief speech to be approved by HR teacher and read to class on Friday, September 26.
Candidates may not:
Generate mass computer handouts.
Distribute pins to attach buttons.
Distribute candy or anything else inappropriate.
Put down or belittle their opponents in any way.
Candidates may be disqualified from running for any infraction of these rules.
Monday: Spelling List 4. Please go to www.spellingcity.com (search by teacher, Debbie Hammond) to print list or play learning games. See note on blog or on Spelling list 4 sent home today.Turned in Reading Log today for grade. Homework: Write paragraph on topic “Why ________ Was the Best Movie I Watched This Summer.” Lesson today on parts of a newspaper. We used copies of The Collierville Herald as our exemplar. We will be reading the breakfast serial “Desolation Canyon”.
Tuesday: Students went to computer lab to complete the Think Link pre-test for Language Arts. Homework was postponed until tomorrow, but Reading Logs (due yesterday) were collected. Students read the first chapter of “Desolation Canyon”. Homework: Paragraph from Monday night is now due Wednesday.
Wednesday: Reviewed Parts of a paragraph. Test tomorrow. Remember to keep reading log every night. Read 20 minutes per night and record it. If you misplace your reading log, you will need to keep this information on notebook paper, along with parent signatures. Turned in paragraph today. Also completed spelling definitions in class.
Thursday: Reviewed parts of a paragraph. Tested on information. Wrote paragraph (My favorite Activities) in class, using parts of a paragraph. A few students need to complete for homework. Spelling Lesson 4 worksheet due Friday. Quiz on Friday over these words.
Friday: Spelling quiz 4. Score paragraph and correct. Read Desolation Canyon chapter 2 (Collierville Herald).

Friday–We reviewed metrics. We had a quiz. No hw.
Monday 9-15-08 Today we spent time reviewing our test from last week. I am offering a retake for anyone tomorrow, especially for those who made below 70. The papers must be signed. Be sure to study. W then went over Order of Operations from last week. Hw: p. 595 Lesson 1-5 (15-29). Show all steps.
