Language Arts – Mrs. Hammond – August 25-29
Remember to READ 20 minutes each evening! 
Monday: Students participated in Library procedure game created in class. Spelling List #1 in agenda: sack admit rapid glance contact contract advance depth comment summit sketch nonsense splendid ethnic liquid impulse. Students received READING LOG for August 25-Sept.12. Please keep this at home or in binder until due (Sept.15).
Tuesday: Students discussed story “Dragon, Dragon” as introduction to text. We began our Start Up activities in our Language Arts binders – completed 1 and 2. Homework: practice spelling word list (see Monday). Study vocabulary and notes for “Just Once”, workbook pages 4 and 5 (Holt Reader).
Wednesday: Finish reading story “Just Once” in Holt Reader, p. 6 – 15. Complete all activities in margins of those pages. Review vocab and notes.
Thursday: Listened to story in class. We are moving the test over “Just Once” to Tuesday.
HW: Complete margin activities for Just Once if you have not done so. Study for Spelling quiz– List 1. Spelling worksheet #91 is due tomorrow. This was given to you on Monday to complete.
Friday: Review for test; Spelling Quiz

MONDAY 8-25-08 We had a quiz on comparing decimals. We worked on a whole number puzzle to finish for homework.
Test tomorrow on reading/writing, comparing and rounding decimals.

TUESDAY The server was down from 11:30 till the end of the day.
Wednesday We worked on Mul. of decimals and the decimal placement in the product.
HW: p. 560 (10-38)
Thursday We began our study of Div. of decimals. hw:562 (11-15)
Friday- We have gone through our review of decimals rather quickly. We will have a test on Tuesday over A/S/M/D of decimals. Classwork to finish for homework(hopefully most finished)–Search and Shade #31.

MATH–A and C Aug. 25-29
Monday8-25-08 We checked our classwork from Friday. We continued our study of the skill. Classwork- We practiced division and turned it in. I gave back several graded papers. HW: p. 591 (9-25). Show all work. No short division.

TUESDAY The server was down from 11:30 till the end of the day.
Wednesday We reviewed and checked last night’s division hw. We will have a test tomorrow on A/S/M/D. Study the problems on p. 589-591.
Wednesday- We worked on and checked our division. We have a test tomorrow on A/S/M/D of whole numbers. Study 589-591. The problems will come from these pages.
Thursday- We took our test. There is no homework. You will get your test back tomorrow. Have a good day.
Friday- They got severals papers back, including the test and quiz they took this week. Classwork was to complete the Search and Shade #14. I told them they would have to finish it for homework, hoping to speed them up. Some still need to finish.

I know the $$ shock of beginning school, especially if you have more than one child, can be daunting. I do not want to add to your burden in ANY way, but I would like to ask those of you who are able to contribute any of the following for your child’s class:

Individually-wrapped candy (not sticky, braces-friendly)☺

Wednesday- Today we worked on multiplying and we put our homework on the board. HW: Finish the puzzle WS on multiplication. We have a TEST tomorrow on multiplying whole numbers.
Thursday-Today we checked hw, took a quiz, and talked about comparing decimals. HW tonight is to complete the worksheet.
Math B & D Aug. 18-22
Wednesday- Today we checked last night’s homework and reviewed place value and reading decimals. Hw-Complete the WS on decimal names. Expect a quiz tomorrow.
